Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) developed on a non-cirrhotic liver is uncommon. Because abdominal ultrasonography or routine screening is not regularly performed in patients without chronic hepatic disease, HCC is usually not detected before it becomes symptomatic. The vast majority of tumors in our series were large on presentation, requiring left, right, or even extended hepatectomies.
Case presentation: We describe the management of a large hepatocellular carcinoma in a non cirrhotic patients. Additionally, we propose a preoperative imaging study with volumetric and tridimensional reconstruction using the software Mevis.
Conclusion: Our approach with this technology is safer, prevent a postoperative small for size syndrome and allows an easier preoperative plan.
